Betula nana (Dwarf birch or Arctic birch)

Not prone to any particular pests or diseases but genetically are prone to dieback of branches making long term styling difficult to sustain.

Bronze birch borer (Agrilus anxius) is a problem in the U.S.A. but as yet is unknown in Europe - a good reason to maintain strict import legislation.

They make a very good tree to learn on with but their long term specimen prospects are not good.
